Hanoi athletes unveil Vietnamese delegation at 31st Southeast Asian Games

On the afternoon of May 8, the diving event of the 31st SEA Games officially kicked off at the Meiting Water Sports Palace. It was also the first sport to award an Olympic medal.

This subject has 7 sports teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam participating in 8 events.

The dives will take place over 4 days from August 5th to November 5th.

Nine Vietnamese divers, including Ngo Phuong Mai, Mai Hong Han, Nguyen Phuong Anh, Nguyen Dong Duong, Du Tuan Minh, Phong Thi Anh, Ding Anh Tuan, Nguyen Quang Da, and Dang Huangtu participated in the competition.

In the women’s 1m softball singles event, representatives of host Vietnam include Nguyen Phuong Anh and Ngo Phuong Mai, who have won three bronze medals at three consecutive SEA Games.

Ngo Phuong Mai is one of many Hanoi sports typical athletes who participated in the Vietnamese sports delegation to the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian diving has two leading Asian candidates, Kimberly Bong Qianping and Nur Dahata Bout Sabri.

It was not difficult for the two Malaysian athletes to win gold and silver in content. Athlete Ngo Phuong Mai was the bronze medalist – the first medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

On the afternoon of May 8, Du Dinh Hong, Director of Hanoi Culture and Sports Department, congratulated and encouraged Wu Fangmai for winning the bronze medal.

In the men’s 3-meter softball doubles, Vietnamese diving competed against 2 athletes Nguyen Tung Duong – Phuong The Anh.

Earlier, at the technical meeting on May 7, Singapore announced that it would withdraw from the men’s 3m soft doubles event. The opponents who competed with Ruan Dongyang and Feng for the gold medal were Malaysia’s Zhou Yiwei and Wu Celiang.

With the advantage, 2 Malaysian athletes overwhelmed 2 Vietnamese athletes with a score of 395.79.

This is also the second gold medal of the day for the Malaysian sports delegation.

Tung Phuong – The Anh won the silver medal with a total of 305.64 points.

Tomorrow (May 9), diving will continue with 2 finals: 1m softball men’s singles and 3m soft bridge women’s doubles.
