Arteta praises Tierney
If Alexandre Lacazette does indeed leave in the summer after his contract expires, Arsenal will have to choose a new captain. And in view of Ally McCoist, this captain’s armband could be given to Kieran Tierney.
Talking to The Sun, the legend of Scottish football shared (quoted by Metro):
“I noticed that at Celtic, how he developed there. Even then, I knew that Tierney would be a leader. Great.”

Will Arteta give Tierney confidence?
“Obviously there are comparisons with a player like Liverpool’s Andy Robertson. The two of them are similar in their passion and respect for football, their desire to reach the top.”
“Like Robertson, I see leadership qualities in Tierney. Many of my friends at talkSPORT – Laura Woods, Darren Bent and Ray Parlor – see Tierney as the future Arsenal captain.”
“Captains show leadership, teamwork, spirit and motivation for their team. Tierney is still young and inexperienced in these areas.”
“But he will eventually grow to be like that. You look at Tierney, he’s mature, well-spoken, his off-field interviews go well. It’s clear to me that Tierney has the qualities of a captain.”
